The York County Court of Common Pleas adopted revised Rules of Court of December 28, 2009, some of which pertain to the Divorce Master process. These rule changes may have an effect on how we proceed with divorce matters, and in fact, may permit us to move forward more quickly than in the past.

Changes to the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and Other Legislation Regarding Real Estate Closings

Within the past two years there have been several pieces of legislation enacted which affect real estate settlements and the process of applying for a mortgage loan. In November 2008, the federal government revised the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act ("RESPA"). The first effective date under RESPA is January 16, 2009 and the second effective date under RESPA, and which had a bigger impact on the preparation for a real estate settlement is January 1, 2010. Other legislation of importance that was effective in 2009 is the Home Valuation Code of Conduct ("HVCC") and the Housing and Economic Recovery Act ("HERA").
